No title for me today thanks....I'm trying to watch my figure

The following was a draft written by me a little over 2 years ago. Saw it and for some reaosn, thought I'd actually post it.

I watch Miami Ink pretty much every chance I get. love the show. love tattoos. have a few myself. there was a woman on last night who lost her husband at 33. yeah, 3 years older than me, two kids and a wife and he basically had cancer of the body. everywhere. she said he wasn't scared of dying, he was more mad that he was sick. damn straight. i feel the same. i'm not afraid of dying. everyone dies. it's going to happen to everyone eventually. i would be pissed off to no end that i wouldn't be able to play with my son anymore. hug and kiss my wife. call mom. play golf with dad. i got a lot of life left to live

since I wrote this a little over 2 years ago, I have another kid and dad can't really play golf anymore. I try my damndest to live life everyday to the fullest. Tell the people around me how much I love them. Something really clicked when my 2nd son was born a little over a month ago. New meaning to my life. I'm trying to reconnect with old friends. People I "neglected" over the years, I'm now trying to rebuild any burned bridges.

Bradley Nowell
2/28/68 - 5/25/96
The 12th anniversary of the death of Bradley Nowell is right around the corner.
Lou Dog died a few years ago as well.
This is what I wrote on another message board:

First time I ever heard Sublime was 1994. My ex was at UCSB and her roommate was from Long Beach. Told me about this "awesome, up and coming band" she would hear at backyard parties in high school. First song she put on for me that day was Date Rape.

I was floored. I was also pretty bombed at the time, so that might have had something to do with it. I went out and found the cd the next day and bought it.

Sublime quickly became one of my favorite bands of the '90's. My musical tastes in the 90's fluctuated from gangster rap to east coast rap to punk and everything in between.

But one of the constants, musically, was Sublime.

At my bachelor party in 2000, while having two huge boobed strippers give me a lap dance I wouldn't soon forget, What I Got and Doin Time were being played. Good times.

It brought me back to the days of the mid 90's, taking bong rips and listening to Badfish, Santeria and all the other Long Beach, sun kissed goodness. Just a complete happiness about it. RIP Bradley (and Lou Dog also).

I don't smoke much anymore, but I may spark one up for you this weekend...

With friends like you, who needs enemies....

Went and saw these guys on Sunday night for the second time in a little over a month. Awesome show. We "talked" to one of the security guys and got into the family and friends loge section right before the show.

Lost count on how many beers the cousins and I had, but we were def feeling nice by the time the curtain closed. Set list as follows:
Cold Feelings(acoustic)
Ball And Chain(acoustic)
You Win Again(acoustic)
Send Her Back
Alone And Forsaken
Under My Thumb
Bad Luck
This Time Darlin'
It Coulda Been Me
Drug Train
Born To Lose
Reach For The Sky
Highway 101
MLM
Sick Boy
So Far Away
Prison Bound
Ring Of Fire
The acoustic was especially cool. Upright bass had a great sound.
Basically, it was hardly any "radio" songs. They played stuff that if you don't have the cd's and know their music, you'd have no clue what song was playing.
Definetly a different style of set list than the show in November.
here's a pic from then:

That's pit status right there baby!!
My 5 year old was plenty upset when he found out we were going. The kid loves "Sick Boy".
Pretty cool I'm getting a little rocker on my hands.
Social D. Still rockin after all these years and I honestly hope they never stop.

it's as if I never left.....

I'm starting this back up.

no rhyme or reason to any of it.

whatever I fell like writing about, it will go here.

So work still sucks, but life in general is good.

baby #2 is on the way!!

reconnecting with family and friends after years of being "apart" has been good.

The Pats are winning the Super Bowl.

oh and before they really blow up, I'm stating my devotion to a certain brand.

Brixton Ltd.

makers of the finest hats around.
here's a pic of the first born modeling one of their cooler hats.
hats have replaced shoes as my addiction.
stay tuned.

If you haven't done something yet what the hell are you waiting for??
redcross.org
go...donate...
I've seriously been considering volunteering a week. i have the time available at work. and there is this overwhelming feeling that i can't shake that i need to do more than give some money...

ok
a little about myself
i'm 29 years old. married. 1 kid. i work in sales.
I grew up in a little town along the Pacific Ocean. San Pedro, CA.
you've probaly seen it in movies, tv shows, etc.
it's definetly a working class town, with the majority of people either longshoreman or fisherman (not really but it seemed that way growing up)
went to the Catholic high school (Mary Star of the Sea High School) in town and graduated in 1994.
and what people say about the Catholic school kids are totally true and i will be the first to admit it.
we had the best parties!!!! drugs, sex, booze. you name it. we had it.

For the last 5 years or so I have in Lawndale, CA. Any SoCal people seen the In-N-Out off the 405 down the freeway from LAX??? I'm about 5 blocks away from that..
I love music, movies, sports and shoes....yes shoes..lol
I golf almost every week.
My favorite baseball team is the LA Dodgers. And we are going to leave it at that...
Basketball team is *gasp* the Clippers. I would rather go see the Clips play than the Lakers anyday. Been on the Clippers wagon for a good 5-6 years now. Can't wait for the day when they make the playoffs and the Lakers don't. Still trying to convince the wife to let me get season tickets.
Hockey....well...i watch it on TV. lol. i'll say the hometown Kings, even though i really only get into it during the Stanley Cup finals, which are always exciting.
Football. The New England Patriots. been a fan since '93 when they drafted Bledsoe, so any bandwagon comments will be ignored...
and shoes...well don't get me started about shoes...
most people i try to explain it to won't or choose not to understand, so i simply stopped trying to explain it.
5 favorite movies:
1) The Godfather, part I (in my opinion, the best movie of all time)
2) The Godfather, part II
3) Saving Private Ryan
4) Garden State (and the soundtrack is just as good)
5) The Usual Suspects
and I can't name 5 favorite cd's, but I listen to everything. even a little country. yeah i said it. but by a little country i pretty much mean Johnny Cash, so that is really Country and Western i think...
some of my favorite artsits:
Bob Marley
Kanye West
Jay-Z
2 Pac
Limp Bizkit
Smashing Pumpkins
No Doubt
Common
A Tribe Called Quest
Coldplay
pretty diverse, but i think different moods require different music
good music is good music, no matter what kind of music it is....
that's all for now I guess...
stay safe

With the events of the past few days down in LA, AL and MS, my heartfelt condolences go out to anybody that has lost a loved one or a house or a pet or just anything that meant something to them.
Makes me definitely appreciate what I have.
Makes me hug my wife and 2 1/2 year old son a little tighter at night.
I was telling the wife the other night, "Fuck that hurricane stuff. I'll take an earthquake any day of the week."
There's so much going on in the world right now. When I first thought about doing this blog thing, my goal was to take current events, comment on them, if people liked what i wrote, cool. If they didn't like what I wrote and thought i was a fuckin' idiot, cool.
But something hit me the other day.
There is too much going on.
I could write pages and pages of stuff that I saw on the news or read in the paper.
and quite frankly i don't have that kind of time and even if i did why the hell would you have enough time to read all of it!? go outside. get some fresh air.
so screw the whole current event angle.
i will comment on certain things i find interesting. this will be like my therapy. i'll vent when i need to. crack jokes when i need to. write flat out stupid stuff when i need to.
next time i will give people who care a little background on myself.
so until that time, everybody be safe
J

ps...seriously...tell the people that are important in your life that you care about them and they mean something to you...
I'm off to hang out with my son........
